ANN UAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Manaia Boy Scouts’ Committee was field last evening in Mr. A. U. Bennett s office, wnen raere was a lair attendance oi citizens. Mr. a. G. Dennett presided. x'atrol Leader G. Payne stressed tlie importance ox having an ambulance outut ior tlie troop, and it was resolved that tlie committee procure tlie necessary material. Mr. j . Dakers stated that ..the Manaia Public behoof committee had generously given tlie two drums of tlie sciiooi band to tne Boy Scouts to assist in forming a hand.- —It was resolved that a vote ol : thanks be ac% corded to the committee for their generosity.

it was resolved that the committee subsidise the Boy Scouts to tne extent of £3 towards tlie tents in the annual camp.
A recommendation by Scoutmaster Rogers that a copy of the latest Scout uuulo for each ooy be procured was unanimously approved by the committee. It was resolved that the committee meet every two months on tne last i’uesdav. LOCAL TOPICS. Mr. L. Duggan, son of Mr. and Mrs. H . Duggan, oi JLnaha, had the misfortune yesterday afternoon to break his leg whilst jumping over a fence. The injured man was admitted to the Hawera Public Hospital. His many friends wish hint a speedy recovery. Great preparations are being made for the monster Gipsy Fair, which is to take place in tne Manaia Town Hall next Wednesday afternoon and evening in aid of St. Cuthbert’s Church. The various stalls and sideshows are complete. As this fair will oc the first ot its kind in Manaia, no doubt it will be well patronised. NEW BOOKS AT LIBRARY.
