HAWERA TRACK NOTES AND TOPICS. (By “Limited.”) Yesterday morning after breakfast, the Levin Cup candidates, Paitonn and Euphonium, galloped seven furlongs together on the outside of the course proper. They ran the distance m Imm iOsec, the pegs being Avell out, and honours were slightly in favour of Euphonium. , ‘, Orcades and Eka ran four furlongs in 56sec on the same track. The four horses named above were shipped south by mail train this mornOwing to the wet weather, the plough gallop was impossible again this morning, and the trial grass and sand tracks were made use of. J. Brown was first to use the tracks and gave Silvermine a sprint over three furlongs on the sand. Silvermine ran the three in 38 2-ssec. and did it nicely. He is looking in Teal nice shape, but has not galloped a half anile fast this season so far, but first time the tracks are suitable his trainer will be asking him a question, Orazone did a round on the sand, coining home over the last three furlongs in 40sec. Bisox was given a couple of rounds of pace work on the same track. Lady Anstrutlier finished well ahead of Iciogno over six furlongs on ithe grass in lmin 20Jsec. Vivo and Partaga worked together, running their six furlongs on the grass in lmin 233 sec without befing extended. Barryanda, Corncroff, Airtight, Whasogne and Onward were all relegated to half-pace work on the sand track. Mendip ran half a mile on the grass bv himself in 55sec. ’ H. Vine has his chestnut Bonogne m fine fettle, and evidently knows how to keep him well, as he ran a particularly good gallop over four furlongs on the outside of the course proper in 52 1-5 sec. Bonogne is engaged at Ashhimst, and Len Pine goes across to ride him. M. Conway's team, War Elame, San Fera and Seariff, did half-pace work. T. Tito will have a busy day at Levin on Saturday, as in addition to riding Paitonu and Eka, he will have the mounts on Kilmoyler, Twink, Little Queen and Mandy. .Silver Rule arrived home on Tuesday night in charge of A. McCormac, and looks in perfect condition.
