PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP NOTED. (BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL TO "THE STAR.”) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 17. At the annual session of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, the report stated that the total membership had reached 50,798. The net gain for the year was 1918, a 3.9 per cent, addition to last year’s roll. The -Church had clearlj ‘won back to its normal rate of prewar increase
The report of the finance committee stated that the treasurer (the Rev. W. J. Comrie) had stated his intention to ask the Assembly to relieve him of his duties as general treasurer at the end of 1928. In view of this statement, and of other changes known to be pending, the committee recommended the Assembly to- set up a representative committee to consider the whole question of committee and officers of the Assembly. The debate was adjourned.
