IG. 11l the House of Commons, in answer to a questioner who pointed out that the training of youthful migrants to the Dominions was costing the Ministry of Labour 53s per capita per week, and the Salvation Army 395, Sir Arthur Steel-Maitland replied that the respective costs were incomparable, as the voluntary bodies obtained an Empire Settlement Act grant. The Hon. W. C. Bridgman, First Lord of the Admiralty, replying to a question, announced the laying down ol only one cruiser during the present financial year. The Ministry had decided. in * view of the situation disclosed at the Geneva naval conference, that it was unnecessary and undesirable to lay down the other two on the programme for this year.—A.P.A. and “Sun.”
