CIVIC COMMISSION.
SYDNEY'S MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT. BY CABLE-PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY, Nov. 16. In the Assembly the Premier, the Hon. T. R. Bavin, explaining the Civic Commission Bill, which he was granted leave to introduce by 45 votes to 40, said the commission would consist of a chairman and two other members and would have power for two years. The measure would dispense with the forthcoming city council elections, the commission taking charge of the administration of the city. The commission would also have lull powers to investigate the civic administration in recent times and as far back as it thought lit.
ikiforc two years expired it was hoped a Greater Sydney Bill would be passed, and the commission would tease to exist.
The Assembly carried the first reading bv 45 votes to 40. It was purely a party vote.
