RUNNING FIGHT WITH POLICE

The Paris correspondent of the “Evening News” reports that -a chauffeur named Royart stole a motor car at Casablanca and drove to Tetuan, picking up en route two accomplices. The police attempted to intercept them, and a fierce battle followed, in which three of the police were shot dead and four were wounded. The desperadoes then systematically visited the jewellers’ shops in Tetuan, stole gems- worth £20,000, and escaped. Police armed with machine guns •pursued the robliers. and another fight took place on the Franoo-Moroccan border, lasting two hours, in which all •of the three bandits were seriously wounded.
