BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS.
GENERAL MEETING. DELEGATES. PROM VARIOUS PARTS. There was a good attendance of delegates from farm and school at a general meeting of the recently formed Boys and Girls’ Clubs Association, held at the A. and P. rooms this morning. Mr. Jas. Dakers was voted to the chair. There were present: Messrs A. J. Glasson, Rod Syme, H. C. Johnson, W. T Seed, J. Nairn, O. V. Smith, W. Dakers, W. H. Burgess, T. lnnes, D. M. Cameron, Sherson, and E. K. Cameron, lion, secretary. The chairman briefly explained the objects of the meeting, which was to finalise the formation of the newly constituted organisation and to appoint oiti rials, executive committee and judges, and generally to formulate a policy for the future. The secretary said that the association should go along the lines suggested by the special committee set up for the purpose. A constitution had been adopted, and the executive would generally organise through the school districts of South Taranaki. He added that all over Taranaki there had been a good response and more receipt books had been asked for. He had received a number of lists of elected members, and this would be something on which to base the future. Among the districts thus represented were Huiroa, Stratford. Okaiawa, Toko, Mahoe, and many others. He added that they would take in Representatives of subscribing organisations as active members of the committee. The secretary read a'letter from the Farmers’ Co-op. on behalf of their principals (Messrs Webb), donating a five guinea cup for /root-growing competitions in mangolds, conditions to be arranged after consultation. The Farmers’ Union, Wanganui, made a suggestion that the schools —• Alton. Hurleyville, Kakaramea, Opaku and Whenuakura —which, though in Taranaki, had been run under Wanganui, should he taken over by South Taranaki or an allowance be made for the expenses. The matter was left to the committee.
