Tu view of the approaching holiday season, anglers- will be interested t-o note that in the new regulations for trout fishing in the Taupe district there are certain alterations. They are as follow : A. reduction of the number of trout that- may be taken on any one day to fifteen ; no- person -fishing shall use any bat otherwise than the artificial fly except in. those streams where an artificial] minnow i,s allowed, in which case this sh.a'll pot be more than I 2J inches; trolling or spinning a lure | from a- boat in any stream running into the lake is prohibited. Tn regard to licenses, a week-end 1 icense- is now available at a. cost of 5J- and anyone may obtain a- whole season license who can prove be has one or more short period licenses, by paying the difference together with a fee of 2/6. A permit is essential to anyone fishing to use a camping -site in the- area- provided for such purpose. With these exceptions, the regulations stand as heretofore. The Railway Department advertises in this issue particulars of train arrangements and of issue of cheap excursion fares in connection with the Hawera A and P. Show on November 16 and 17.
