SPORT AT HAWERA. CLUB OPENING DAY. AMENDED SCHEDULE. (Notes by “Narwhal.”) Tlxe annual meeting of the HaweraClub, held last week, did not attract a very large attendance, but a spirit of keen enthusiasm was evinced. Most of the former stalwarts are included in the list of officials, and should be able to control the sport this season in the capable manner which has marked past activities of the club. The season opening day, fixed for Wednesday week, will set the competition ball rolling, and- many prospective contestants are already in training. Good local -support is anticipated, and unofficial advice received from Opunake indicates that the coastal club will be represented. The amended time-table which has been adopted by the Baths Committee of the council embodies a generous concession to the lady bathers, who expressed objection to the extension of mixed bathing hours this season, and the objecfcg>r-s have- gained their point in asking for separate hours on the two half-holidays, though the schedule has been arranged in a manner which Lshould not inconvenience those who made representations favouring the adoption of family bathing as any approved, and including such hours for the full period on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The new schedule- is as follows: Sunday.—Ladies and girls, 6.30 to 8 a.m. ; men, 8 to 10 a.m. Monday.—Mixed bathing, 6.30 to 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 to 7 p.m.; ladies and girls, 2 to 3 and 4 to 5.30 p.m.; boys, 12 to 1 p.m. (Technical High 1 School). 3 to 4 p.m. (Public School).
