TROTTING
AN UNUSUAL POINT. INCIDENCE OF A DISQUALIFICATION. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 9. At the meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association, the question whether the disqualification of a person also affected any foals running in his paddocks Avas discussed.. The sub-ject-arose through the application for registration of a horse by an oAvner who Avas the son of a man who had been disqualified for life. It was stated by the son that he had received a colt from his father Avhen it was was about five months old in exchange for -a filly.
The- board decided to ask the present OAvner to make a statutory declaration regarding ownership at the time of disqualification of his father. Mr. W. R. HayAvard said that he did not think it was ever intended that the sins of the father should be visited on the sons. The speaker was inclined t.o take a humane A'iew of the matter. The secretary re a d Rule 348, which stated that no horse of which a disqualified person was. or had been at the time of an offence, the owner, should be qualified to be- entered or nominated or started for any race.
