HAWERA SCHOOL.
INFANTS’ DEPARTMENT. EARLY REPLY DEFINITELY PROMISED. Being somewhat concerned at the non-receipt of advice from the Education Department in regard to the new infants’ school, for which plans had been approved, Mr J. W. Harding, chairman of the local school committee, sent a telegram to the Minister of Education to the effect that he had had no reply in reference to the Minister’s promise to get a grant for the school buildings, seeing that the promise had been given on September 39 and the plans had been approved a few days later by all parties at this end, and that the Taranaki Education Board intimated that it was in a position to go ahead at once as soon as a grant was secured. In view of the holidays coming on soon, the committee was concerned in the matter.
The Minister, in a reply received today, said that he regretted the delay, which was caused by his having to consult district medical officers. He hoped to be able to give a definite reply at > an early date.
