TARANAKI ADMINISTRATION.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE I MEETING.
The final meeting of the year of the Taranaki Rugby Union Management Committee was held at Stratford last evening. There were present: Messrs J. McLeod (chairman), W. A. Guy, J. J. Goodwin, J. Paterson, W. H. Moyes, A. F. Nielson, E. 11. Young, R. Masters, F. M. Whyte, L. J. Furrie, J. Garcia and S. E. Neilson (secretary). An apology for absence was received from the president, Mr H. Spurdle. Dealing with the fiancial position of the union, the chairman reported- that allowing for accounts totalling £715 to be passed for. payment at the meeting, the credit balance stood at £l24l.against which outstanding accounts amounting to approximately £256 would have to be provided for. A letter was received from the Wairarapa Rugby Union expressing appreciation of the hospitality extended on the occasion of the'team’s visit to Taranaki. GRANTS TO CLUBS. A letter was received from the Waimate Club requesting a grant from the special fund set aside during the season for the assistance of clubs requiring financial help. Reviewing the condition, the chairman said that the allocation of money from the fund was conditional upon all members being financial in the particular clubs requiring help. On the motion of Mr Paterson, seconded by Mr Guy, it was decided to notify all clubs that applications for assistance from the fund must be lodged with the union secretary, accompanied by an audited balance-sheet, not later than the end of January. The secretary was requested to draw the attention of clubs to the condition regarding subscriptions. ALL BLACK MANAGER.
A letter from the New Zealand Union invited nominations for the position of manager of the All Black team to tour South Africa. It was asked that nominations be made by November 30, so that the appointment could be made by the end of the year.
The Auckland Union wrote .asking for support to the following motion: — “That it is the opinion of this committee that the position of manager for the South African tour should not be confined to the ranks of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Union, and that this committee is further of the opinion that nominations should be obtained from the different unions and that the selection should be made either at a general meeting of delegates or by postal ballot..’’ The chairman remarked that the action of the New Zealand Union in calling for nominations for the position showed that the Auckland suggestion had practically been adopted. 1011 the motion of Mr Goodwin, it was decided unanimously to nominate the chairman (Mr J. McLeod) for the position of manager. CUNNINGHAM BENEFIT.
