The General Post Office has received a message from Porangahau, East i.oast, about 15 miles soutn of Napier, reporting that the senooner Maroro was stranded inside Blackhead reef yesterday morning early. Everyone was safe. There was no prospect of the vessel getting off until the weather breaks. She was not making water when the crew left The. Maroro is a three-masted schooner-rigged auxiliary scow of 200 net tons, and lately has been running coal from the West Coast to Gisborne. Sue is owned by Clare and Clare, of Gisborne.
