MAGISTRATE ’S COURT. (From Our Own Correspondent.)' The usual monthly sitting of the above court was held before Mr. J. S. Barton on Thursday. Judgment summons.—-Mrs. Bibbv v. J. D. Hair, claim for £G for board. Dofendant was ordered to pay the amount forthwith, or in default seven days imprisonment in Wanganui gaol. Meat works thefts.—-W. Zimmerman, one of the lads concerned in the theft of skins from Paten Meat Works, came tip for sentence. Accused, wlro had pleaded guilty, was admitted to probation for three years, and was ordered to report to the probation officer, and in addition to repay to the company the moneys lie had received from the sale of the stolen goods. Obscene language.—Paul Cunningham was charged with using obscene language and creating a disturbance at the town hall on September 12. On hearing the evidence the Magistrate saidl lie was not prepared to take a lenient view of this case as the breach was committed in a public place of entertainment. Accused was convicted and fined £1 and 1.1/- costs.
