The captain of the steamer Barendroecht wirelessed that the machine took fire while being salved. Muss Elder and Captain Haldemann are being landed at the Azores on October 15. \ later message states that the nature of Miss Elder’s unexpected rescue was enhanced by the' fact that the plane took fire almost at the instant its occupants boarded the ship, and burned furiously to the water’s edge.
