STRUGGLE ON A LAWN.
ATTEMPT TO BREAK INTO HOUSE TRUST RATED. (BY TELEGRAPH—press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 14. Early last evening an attempt made by two men to break into a house at 951 Colombo Street North was frustrated by the arrival of the owner of the property, Mr. C. P. Agar. Mr. Agar, accompanied by his wife, was walking down Colombo Street when he noticed a light showing in his house. He walked across the lawn, when he saw • two men mounting bicycles. He grappled with one of the men the other meanwhiie escaping down the drive. Mr. Agar held on to lis man. who pleaded that he might be allowed to go. Suddenly he commenced to struggle, hitting out fiercely. A fight ensued, the man breaking Mr Agar’s grip and escaping, but leaving his hat and bicycle behind. Mr. Agar received several bruises, but was otherwise unhurt. Shortly after.varsd the police arrived and took charge of the hat and bicycle. The Bouse, which was unoccupied, contained goods to the value of about £BO. Noth,ng was missing.
