BOOKMAKERS HARD HIT. BT CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT SYDNEY, Oct. 5. Exceptionally heavy betting marled the first two days of the Randwick meeting. It is estimated that the bookmakers lost over the success of Vaal,s in the Epsom and Murillo in the Metropolitan. One Fading firm of bookmakers had to payout £40,000 on two wagers, besides other heavy obligations. All the bookmakers were more or less hit, particularly over the doubles. It is reported that one of the sm alter operators was unable to meet his obligations immediately.
