SEMI-FINALS' PRODUCE GOOD PLAY.
(by telegraph—press association.) PALMERSTON N., Oct. 5. The semi-final in the Dominion golf championship was played this morning in -a. strong gusty wind. It resulted in Miss Culling (Auckland) heating Miss Payton (Rotorua) one up. Mrs. CoHinson (Manawatu) beat Miss Upton (Auckland), five and four. The Culling-P'ayton match resulted in a keen contest, the play being' very even. At the turn Mis-s Culling was one up. She maintained the advantage and with two holes to play was two up. Miss Payton won the next hole in four to Miss Calling’s five. The final hole was halved in five, one over the bogey, the game' ending in Miss Culling’® favour by one up. The Oo 11 in son Upton match was another good exhibition of golf, in which the- advantage in the first half rested with the Manawatu player, who was four up at the. turn. Maintaining her advantage, the hitter was able to win by five and four.
