AMATEUR ATHLETIC SEASON.

PREPARATION IN lIAWERA. At a meeting of the committe of the Ilnwera Amateur Athletic 'Club last night there -were present: Messrs. W. A. Spragg (president), P. C. Roden, G. Dahl, G. Tlostick, A. IT. Guy, 11. A. K. McNae, 11. McCabe, R, Allen, and G. 11. Weir (honorary secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs M. R. Jones, A. Grant and A. Goodwin.

A programme of evening meetings, to be held on October 12, November 9, December 15 and January 25, 'as drawn up by a sub-committee, was approved. Other meetings decided on were for Labour Day, show night carnival and the club’s championships in November. It was decided to allot Mr. J. IT. Hall’s trophy to the competitor under 20 in field events securing the roost pc ints. The. policy of the club last year, whereby points did not count unless at least five entered, was considered unfair and it was decided that this year points would be allotted to all starters.

The president suggested that the A. and P. show committee might welcome the holding of the Wnngamii-Taranaki Centre Championship meeting on the Wednesday of the show. It was also suggested’ that a guarantee of £25 might be made to the centre. On the motion of Mr. Weir it was agreed that, subject to the approval of the. A and P. Association, the club should apply to the centre for permission to held the championships at Ilawera on Wednesday. November 16. Messrs. II os tick, Marter and Weir were appointed' a programme committee and Messrs. iSpragg Weir and M. R. Jones a dance committee.

The president and secretary were appointed an executive committee. The president announced that Mr. P. W. Lamb had given a further £2 2s in older that a small replico of the championship rose bowl won this year by ,T. Dvices might be secured for the holder of the trophy each season. Mr. Dillon, of Wanganui, was appointed the club’s representative on the Taranaki-Wanganui Centre. Messrs. Sprngg and Weir were delegated to represent the club at the annuel meeting of the centre.
