Special Meeting of The Hawera Borough Council held on FRIDAY, the 30th. day of September, 1927, the following resolution was passed AND will be submitted for confirmation at a Special Meeting of the Council to be held on MONDAY, the 31st. day of October, 1927, at the Council Chambers, High Street, Hawera. 'RESOLUTION. The Ilawera Borough Council hereby makes by Special Order the following By-laws under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” and its amendments and in exercise and pursuance of all other powers enabling it in that behalf and directs that these By-laws shall come into force on the Ist. day of November, 1927. The object and purport of the proposed By-laws is as follows: — 1. The short title is “The Hawera Borough Bv-laws (Amendment), 1927. (No. 2).” 2. These By-laws l are to be read with “The Hawera Borough By-laws, 1923.’’ and amendments and the penalty provisions thereof shall apply. 3. By-law 34 is repealed and following substituted: No person having care custody or control of cattle or being owner shall permit or allow same to wander or be at large and without proper guidance. 4. Bv-law 55 f (i) is repealed and the following substituted: No person | shall drive any motor or ride any motor cycle without an efficient silencer and unless silencer in constant operation. 5. The following new By-law is added to Division IX (Waterworks) and shall apply only to Nolantown: — IS4 (A) Applicants for water shall pom ply with the following requirements: Galvanised metal tank of at least 200 gallons capacity to be installed or existing tank may be used if approved. All water shall be taken by approved pipes and fittings. No tank to be inside any building. Tank to bo provided with screwed metal plug or other approved appliance for emptying and to discharge at approved plhce. Tank to have access hole at least IS. inches in diameter on top and overflow not less than U inches in diameter. Tank to be covered with galvanised metal and any opening in cover to be fitted with heavy lid. Supply pipe to have effective ballcock with valve close to opening in cover to permit of inspection. Valve to be fitted so as to prevent water svphoning back. No roof water or lain water to be permitted to enter tank or fittings. Interior of tank to be cleansed at least once every six months after installation and such cleansing to be reported to Town Clerk within seven days. By-pass pipe of S inch galvanised iron to be installed to permit of water being supplied direct at discretion of Council without use of Tank. Stopcocks not to be opened or shut save bv Member of Borough Staff and may be secured. No pers. * to connect pipe, tap or fitting to any service pipe. Tank and apparatus to be kept and maintained watertight and in good repair, order and condition. A full copy of the proposed new Bylaws is deposited at the Office of the Hawera Borough Council, High Street, Hawera, and is open to the inspection of the public without fee during Office hours until 4 p.m. on the said 31st. day of October, 1927.
