NOLANTOWN WATER SUPPLY.
LAYING OF MAINS COMPLETED. SERVICE AVAILABLE FOR HOUSEHOLDERS. “The service is now completed and is ready - ! or connection to the houses,” said the Ixirough engineer (Mr. J. Sturroek) • when appioacned this morning by a “Hawera Star” reporter in regard to the progress of the Xolantown water scheme, work on which was commenced a lew months ago, when the opinion was expressed that the supply, would be available for houselioluers by the end of the year. The work of laying the mains is completed, and householders can now secure connections with the service.
Mr. Sturroek said that the pressure reducing valve, which allowed water to pass into the new area when the pressure in the town mains exceeded 2911) per square inch, was now being built in, and the hydrant posts were being placed. Completion of the east iron surface boxes was being awaited, and these would be placed in position at an early date. The connections from the mains to the fence lines would In? proceeded with in the usual way.
