HAWEEA CLUB ACTIVITIES. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Hawera Tenuis and Croquet Club was held in the Borough Council Chambers last evening. Air H. D. Caplen presided. The report presented by the treasurer (Mr AI. R. Jones) explained that though an annual meeting had been held in May, yesterday evening's meeting had born cade.d to comply with the rules of the club, which provided that the annual meeting should be held in September instead of Alay, the month in which the meeting had been held during the last two years, “There has been no active play in the period covered by this report,” continued Air. Robertson and Messrs Jones amd Ryan: tea committee, Alesda-mes Suisted, Harrop and Trotter; Alesdames_HayMackenzie. E. Hawken and Dr. Burst: grounds committee, Airs Dowling and Mr R. Syme; auditor. Air R. Blundell. The appointment of a delegate to the Taranaki Association was left to the committee. • __ . , The ground committee was authorised to make arrangements for the season opening day.

CROQUET. SOUTH TARANAKI PLAY. COMPETITIONS ARRANGED. Delegates from each of the 12 clubs affiliated with the South Taranaki Croquet Association were in attendance at the quarterly meeting held in Hawera yesterday afternoon, and evinced an enthusiastic interest which augured well for the progress of the game throughout the district during the coming season. Mrs. H. G. Carman, of Eltham (vice-president) occupied the chair. The most important measures decided upon during the afternoon related to the season’s competitions.. It was decided to organise a competition open to all clubs for the Campbell Cup, the district being divided into four groups of three clubs each as follow :

Patea, Waverlev, Hawera Park. Hawera, Manaia, Okaiawa. Eltham, Stratford, Avon. Kaponga, Opunake, Rahotu. It was decided that the club games be arranged between* November 15 and February 15, each group to find a winning team and the -semi-finals and finals to be contested on the conclusion of the association’s first annual tourney on a date to be fixed later. A tournament open to B grade teams for the McL’Dowie Cup was also decided upon, to take place during the first week in December, the venne being the Hawera and Hawera. Park lawns.
