MOTORS IN COLLISION.

LORRY AND CYCLE

Ivor Richards, a law clerk employed in Hawera and residing at Eltham, was rendered unconscious for a short time when, shortly after 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon, a collision occurred at the .junction of Wellington Street with Princes Street, Hawera, between the motor cycle he was riding and a light motor truck being driven by Mr. G. Roberts, of Hawera. Dr. J. McGhie, who arrived on the scene within a few moments, found the cyclist in a dazed condition, though not suffering from serious injury andj after a dressing had been applied to a slight, wound on his forehead, Richards was able to proceed to Eltham by train. Both the motor cycle and the lorry were, travelling on Princes Street, the former towards the railway line, while the latter was proceeding from the direction of the railway and the collision occurred as the lorry was swinging to its right into the side street. An eye witness informed a "Star” reporter that, in his opinion, both vehicles were travelling at a moderate rate of speed, but the force of the impact threw the cyclist heavily to the roadway. The front forks of the -cycle were broken and the machine was removed on the lorry, which bore evidence of the mishap on its left front mudguard, the rear portion of‘which was crumpled.
