DEPUTY SENT TO PRISON. FRENCH FARMER’S DEATH. PARIS, Sept. 16. M. Rene Picard, knoAvn as M. de Chavagnes, a deputy for tlie Department of the. LoLet-Gher, lias been sent to prison on a charge of having caused the death of M. Hahusseau, a farmer, in singular circumstances. ’The farmer A\;as getting out of his trap Avhen >it was struck by a motorcar, and, fail ling on Ids head, Ihe died from concussion of the brain. The driver of the car left the Avheel in order to see* what had occurred. Then he .re-entered his car and drove away at full speed. A search wm made for the motorcar and its driver, and witnesses ivere found who had noted the number, | which was that, of M. de. Chav agues. jTlhe oar bore signs of a collision, but the deputy declared that the damage to hiss vehicle was caused by an accident at another place. He was neA rertheless changed Avith having caused the farmer's death, and the Court at Blots, after a long bearing, sentenced him to three months’ imprisonment and ordered him to pay 10,000 francs damages.
