STRATFORD SPRING SHOW.
A GOOD DISPLAY.
SOUTH TARANAKI SUCCESSES. The annual spring show of the Stratford Horticultural Society was held in the Town Hall, Stratford, yesterday, when a really fine array of daffodils, cut. flowers and pot plants was presented. The increasing popularity of horticultural shows in Taranaki was evidenced by a good attendance of the public. The show was officially opened by the Mayor of Stratford (Mr J. W. McMillan), who, in the course of his address, said he would like the Horticultural Society to take up the matter of tree-planting in the Stratford streets. Previous efforts in this direction had failed principally, he thought,_ through a lack of knowledge of varieties of trees suitable to local conditions. The wide streets of the borough let themselves admirably to tree-planting and the expert knowledge credited to horticultural societies should overcome adverse climatic conditions. PRINCIPAL AWARDS.
The outstanding feature of the show was, perhaps, the remarkable run of successes achieved by .South Taranaki daffodil growers. 'The principal winners’ were: —
