/ NEW ZEALAND CRICKETERS. A SURPRISE FAREWELL. LORD MAYOR'S TRIBUTE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 12.5 p.m. to-day. LONDON, Sept. 20. The New Zealanders had a surprise ft rewell, the Lord Mayor, Sir Rowland Eludes and Lady Blades entertaining tl cm at breakfast at Mansion House. It was a lightning affair, the cricketers dashing from the West End and hurrying back to pack up their bags and to entrain at Victoria station. Sir Rowland Blades in toasting the team, said that before the team came they wero inclined to appreciate New Zealand football more than cricket. “You treated us to a wonderful game at Lord’s, the spectators thereafter being on tenterhooks. You have shown us how to play in the public interest. ,- Lord Jellicoe said that like all other Englishmen he was impressed with the sportsmanlike cricket of the New Zealanders. They went for the bowling throughout, full of grit and determination. Mr. D. Hay, responding m the absence of -Mr Lowry, who was indisposed, said that they did not intend to lapse -ifiito slow cricket when they returned, ypie Lord Mavor, Earl Jellicoe, and Lord Harris farewelled the team at Victoria station.
