BOXING.

THE BIG FIGHT. MEN COMPLETE THEIR. TRAINING 8Y CABLE—PEESB ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, Sept. 19. Chicago reports state that Tunney concluded his active training to-day with boxing drill that impressed) the observers with the fact that he was stronger and more skilful than he was a year ago. He declared: *‘l am fit. I can honestly say I never felt better in my life.” To-morrow and on Wednesday he will use the punchbag a little. His last boxing session showed him to be accurate m timing deliberate blows and in feinting lor attack. Dempsey, who boxed yesterday, remained inactive to-day, and considers liis training complete. Onlookers consider him in good! condition. Efforts to stop the fight will be made by a minister of the gospel, seeking an injunction on the grounds that the bouts aro brutal spectacles degrading and immoral.

The campaign of open letters also promises to continue. It is understood that Dempsey will again demand an explanation of Tunney’s activities previous to the Philadelphia fight. Betting is now even money, with large sums offered by Dempsey’s backers.

APPLICATION FOR INJUNCTION

DISMISSED. RECEIPTS MAY NOT BE SO LARGE AS ANTICIPATED. Received 10.10 a.m. to-day,. NEW YORK, Sept. 20. At Chieaigo, Federal Judge Carpenter dismissed the Rev. Mr Elmer Williams’ application for an injunction against the Dempsey-Tunney fight. As the hour of the bout approaches, it is reliably learned that the receipts am not likelv to be so large as originally anticipate*!. Mr Ted Rickard once hoped to take in thiee million dollars, but one of liis confidants now states that the promoter will be satisfied if the figure reaches two and a half million. It is still certain that the fight will mali}3 considerable money for Rickard, Tunney and Dempsey, but the chances are that each will receive less than expected. The fact that Dempsey’s and Tunney’s shams havjil (already lbeen j allocated is not likely to prevent a re-1 adjustment.
