The Central News Agency’s Rome correspondent says that, having stabilised the lira, Mussolini is now devoting attention to administrative economies, firstly by the reduction of State servants’ salaries, amounting to £3,500,000 annually. The banks and private firms followed suit with cuts of 15 to 20 per cent. The basic industries and 1 agriculture follow next with gradu,ated reductions in order to avert- hardship on the workers. The proposal also affects doctors, lawyers and journalists. When the economy is completed it is estimated that the Exchequer will bene,fit to the extent of two milliards lire yearly.
