HOSPITAL CONTROL

HAWERA BOARD’S MEETING. Further business transacted at- yesterday’s meeting of the Hawera Hospital Board’ was as follows: The chairman stated that he had been advised that it would cost £llO to put the nurses’ home at the old hospital into order for letting, and: itwould seem that this would not be worth while unless a good tenant could be secured. With Mr. Crighton he had gone into the matter, and had decided that it would be best to pull the building down and sell the timber. Am offer of £IOO for the building to be pulled down and the timber to be removed had been received, but it was thought that a better result would be made if the board had the building demolished and sold the timber. The secretary (Mr. C. M. Raggett) said that the nbestos portion should be retained as an overflow for the Old Peonle’s Home. The matter was left to the chairman and Mr. Crighton, with power to act. The names' of Misses Adelaide Broadlev and Thelma Ward were placed on the waiting list of nrobationeps. The chairman and Mr. Crighton were demited to represent the hoard at a conference of hospital boards and local bodies to be held' for the purpose of deciding a more equitable levy as between borough and county councils.
