THEOSOPHY.

THE PLAN OF SALVATION

LECTURE TN HAWERA. The Rev. W. Crawford, national lecturer and general secretary of the New Zealand section of the Theosophical Society, gave an address last evening under the auspices of the Hawera. lodge of the society, 'his subject being •‘Theosophy and the Plan of Salvation.”

The lecturer began by outlining the aims and objects of the society. - He stated that it was a world-wide organisation, having for its chief object the realisation of the universal brotherhood of humanity without- distinction of race, sex, creed, caste or colour, and its motto was “There is no religion higher than truth.” Referring to the plan of salvation, he said that theosophy taught that the destiny of mankind was to become perfect, following the teaching of Christ, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.” He referred to evolution as the method of attaining this end. through all man’s experiences on this earth. The man who lived a good life, he said, had nothing to fear, hut he needed more- than this, and must follow in the steps of Christ, who would guide and inspire him to follow in the straight and narrow path. There was a good attendance of members of the lodge, and all followed the lecture with close attention.
