'The Government is pushing troops thither. .ROME, Sept. 10. General Zezzetti found the rebel tribesmen in the central mountain range of Tripoli, killing 21 and capturing 400 who were loaded on camels. The Italian casualties were slight. LONDON, Sept. 10.
The body of Dr. Oswald Olive Shields, aged 56, of Melbourne, practicing in the West End of London, ivas found in the woods at Richmond, Surrey, with an artery in his groin severed by a surgical instrument found nearby. It is stated that he had long overworked and refused to take a holiday. He acted in war-time as operating surgeon at Wimmercux. Ilis wife and five children were holidaying with liis brother, Sir Douglas Shields. LONDON, Sept. 9. “We have made work more profitable than living on the dole,” says Sir Alfred Woodgate, chairman of the West Ham Commission. “We are reducing rates by 4d in the £1 during the next six months, making a total of Is 6d since we took over control and reducin<>- the number of unemployed by 500,000. We arranged to pay the debt of £2 275.000 by yearly instalments of £302,000.” NEW YORK, Sept. 10.
Tt. is understood that Captain Ivingsfiord Smith has decided to employ only an amphibian or a seaplane for his Australian flight and may try to obtain Sikorsky’s flying boat for this purpose equipped'with three special Wright Whirlwind motors, but if he fails in this he will employ the Foklcer used by Captain Wilkins during the latter’s Arctic explorations.
