FURNISHIG FABRICS
FASHIONS IN COVERS. With spring cleaning looming very near the Uiops are beginning to show their new ranges of furnishing fabrics for the coming season. One of the most popular fabrics this year for loose covers is to be shot taffeta. This material came into favour last year on account of its beautiful appearance and practical qualities, but now, with the introduction of the latest weaves, it will certainly bo one of the most favoured fabrics to be seen in the shops. i
Artificial silk chenille is another popular material for curtains and all kinds of drapings. Shot effects that have the appearance of a very beautiful stipple are to be seen in the latest ranges, and one type of this material shows a blending of royal blue and rose. This fabric wears extremely well and is fadeless.
So much for the plain materials. Printed fabrics will, of course, be in as big demand as ever for certain types of rooms, and in this connection it is'not possible to find a more suitable material than printed linen. The designs this year are rather heavier than usual, and this is accounted for by the continued popularity of the Jacobean style of furniture.
