HAWERA MUNICIPAL BAND.

ADMINISTRATIVE WORK. MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Hawera Municipal Hand committee was held last evening. Tnere were present: Messrs; ±l. N. Lester,. E. Evans, J. Champion, L. Snaw, H. A. Brunette, J. Kilpatrick, E. Franks, C. Haddon, \V, Hawkins (secretary), and Lieut. H. C. A. Fox (conductor). In the absence owing to indisposition of the president (Mr E. Dixon), Mr Lester was voted to the chair.

The bandmaster (Lieut. H. C. A. Fox) reported that during thei month the band paraded ten times, eight being rehearsals and two public performances. The latter were .a concert in High. Street and a (programme at the Hospital. Two appeals were made in aid of the distress caused through unemployment, and the money collected bad been handed to the Women’s National Reserve. The attendance at rehearsals was good. During the month one member had been written to on account of slackness. The roll of the senior band stood at 33. “Wei ana now busy working up programmes, and as soon as the weather becomes more settled, will render these in the public park,” concluded the report. The report was adopted. The lion, secretary of the Women’s National Reserve (Miss A. Rallantiiie) wrote thanking the band for the donation of £1 Is 9d.

The secretary reported that a further amount which had been collected at the Hospital had since been forwared to the reserve. The subject of the annu'al ball, consideration of which had been deferred at the previous meeting, was discussed, and, owing to the lateness of the dancing season, it was. decided to hold the project' in abeyance. The secretary reported that a number of chairs were wanted for the band room. He .intimated that a favourable offer of eight chairs had been received. —Tlie 'secretary was authorised to make the purchase conditionally that certain terms indicated wore successfully negotiated.
