MANAIA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) CRICKET CLUB. The animal meeting of the Manaia Cricket Club was held last evening. There was a good attendance, Mr. J. A. G. Cosgrove presiding. The balance-sheet was submitted and adopted- This showed an expenditure of £lO 3s 6d and receipts £l2 10s Od. Assets totalled £l9 Os 8d and liabilities £l3 14s 4d, leaving a balance of £5 Os 4d.

The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Rev. C. Old; president, Mi J. S. McKay; vice-presidents, Messrs A. G. Bennett, A. H, Yarrow, Rev. Father O’Dwyer, Messrs G. Kasper, E. J. Massey, E. Long, J. W. (Snowden; secretary and treasurer, Mr V. 11. Hobday (re-elected); auditor, Mr. J. A. G. Ccsgrove (re-elected); delegates to the association, Messrs H. Hughes and V, 11. Hobday; selection committee, Messrs V. 11. Hobday and 11. Hughes; captain t'. he elected at every match; general committee and ground committee, all playing members; club captain, Mr Y. H Hobday. The following new members were elected: M. iCampbell, J. Gyde, E. Long, ,T. Beauchamp, D. Broomfield, Allan Hughes, E. Guise, C. Haynes. Subscriptions were fixed at adults 25 s, under 18 years I2s 6d. It was decided that the subscription for honorary members be 5s and that an effort be made to secure honorary members.

The opening day was fixed for October 8, an invitation being issued to Okat'o Club. It was decided to make practice days Tuesday and Thursday of each week, practice to start next Sati r day. Mr 11. Hughes said that prospects appeared much brighter, as there were now 17 playing members, and though it might be easier for him to play for Hawera he would stick to Manaia if they would buck up and do all they could to push the game forward. He cculd see no reason why they should not have a good season. Mr Hobday said he understood Mr. 11. Whalen would again play and they needed to reorganise, and put a new spirit into the game. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded a good meeting.
