Air H. G. Dickie, ALP., left for Wellington this morning. Father AI. J. Dillon, who lias been stationed at Stratford for the past IS months, has left that town for Carterton to which parish lie has been appointed. Messrs C. A. Grounds, chairman of the Dairy Produce Board, was riding around his farm at Motukaraka, when his horse fell in a swamp. Mr Grounds sustained a fractured shoulder. He was taken to the hospital and is progressing favourably. The death of Mrs Catherine Perkins, aged 8-3, of Greymouth, is reported m a. Press Association telegram. Mrs. Perkins arrived at Port Chalmers m 1849, and went to the West Coast m I 860:
The death of Mr. J. W. Hyan of Auckland, which took place on Saturday, will be regretted by friends in this district. He was a fine singei, possessed of a remarkably good bass voice and was for many years a member of a famous quartette, the Lyric Four. Some years ago he came to Taranaki with Chautauqua, and the quartette’s, visit will he well remembered and with great pleasuic. At a. special meeting of the War mate Football Club last night a vote of thanks was passed to Mr. J. Paterson for his work during: the previous season. The mover, Mr. G, A. Burke, said Mr. Paterson had been an old player, and a. member of the, union and had done a great deal for the club in particular and the sport in general. Mr. Paterson said that anything no had done for football in the past ne had been pleased to 1 do.
