TANGARAKAU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BENEDICTS’ BALL. The Tangarakau benedicts’ ball, which eventuated on Friday last, easily outclassed any function ever held here. Well over 200 people were presincluding a good many visitors. The mail decorations were a credit to those responsible. Coloured' ‘.streamers were suspended between five illuminated hells. These were made of flexible wood, and interwoven wtih streamers, greenery and paper roses. Inclement weather limited the use of much greenery, but a little was very effectively arranged. The stage was a masterpiece, being entirely constructed of trellis work, over which trailed' paper flowers, and coloured lighting softened the effect. The floor was in capital order, and duties of M’s.C. were carried out by Messrs. P. Duggan, T. Brennan and W. Evans. The music was supplied by Boulton’s professional orchestra, and brought them much applause. Extras were played by Mrs. G. bat is, Mr. L. Davison. Mr. W. Evans and others. A capable committee of local ladies were responsible for the supper arrangements, and are to he congratulated on the .success of their catering. The supner room decorations were prettv and novel, paper flowers and gaily dressed kewpies adding colour to the tables. Great credit is due to the committee, headed hv their energetic chairman, Mr. J. Cherry, for the success achieved.

Two school teams journeyed from hero on Friday last to participate in the schoolboys’ seven-n-side football tournament at Toko.
