SELLING LAND FROM THE AIR
SYDNEY, August 12. All manner of schemes have been exploited in and around Sydney in connection with the selling of land, which Has become an intensive business in the past few years. But it has remained for one linn to introduce an aeroplane a« an aid to .salesmanship, and the last word in land, inspection oy piospective owners. Pioneers are Arthur Rickard and Company, who announced this week that where landing grounds can be secured on their various estates, they will large avail themselves of aeroplanes to show their clients the layout of their holdings in relation to the surrounding country. Coincident with this courageous enterprise is the arrival on their staff of Major Cl. H. Parker, D. 5.0., M.C., U.C.M. and Croix de (.1 tier re. He lias an astonishing record among British iliers who named him “Gyp.” This term was applied to him during the war, when lie showed a propensity to go roaming the skies at any hour in search of enemy planes, lie became in fact an aeroplaning gipsy. His experience in the air will be, of course, an enormous asset to the firm lie represents. He was lent to Italy by the British Government to introduce order into the air defence of that country. He has no doubt -about the success of adopting the airway to the heart of clients. “If people liad always been able to see their lots from the air before purchasing them a heap of land sold in Sydney would still be without purchasers,” 'is his crisp comment. The plane trips are not intended for small inquiries yet. They are arranged on special occasions and the 'customer is charged a nominal sum to avoid the whole of Sydney taking the air at the expense of the land selling firm. Already this week a client a few thousand feet above the earth, was given convincing proof that the land he desired to buy was adjacent to expanding districts and must improve bn value
