C.u.D. SYSTEM TO CONTI A lE. (BY telegraph—press association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. ’ 29. Some months ago a deputation from traders and chambers ’of commerce waited on the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates to protest, against the Post Office:cash on delivery system of parcels from England. Air. Coates has. replied that the abolition would not be a friendly gesture to England, and he was satisfied that no good purpose would be served by setting up a committee to inquire into the subject. The Government would be prepared later on to review Die whole question. The Wellington Chamber of Commerce considered the reply and thought it unconvincing. It was urged that Australia and Canada had no such external system, though they applied it internally.
