AEROPLANE FLIGHT
FURTHER DELAYS OCCUR
’PLANE MAY STOP AT HAWERA OVERNIGHT.
Further delay apparently occurred in the. aeroplane flight from Christchurch to Auckland and the Bristol Fighter which was sent to replace the wrecked DHoOdid not leave Blenheim until 2.30 o’clock this afternoon. As the journey was estimated to take at least two hours the machine was not expected to arrive at the Hawera Racecourse until 4.30. In view of the fact that this delay would result in darkness falling before the northern city could be reached, local aviation experts consider it likely that the machine would stay overnight in Hawera. Large crowds of interested spectators assembled at the Racecourse at II o’clock this morning and at two o’clock this afternoon, but wore disappointed. An unofficial message was received from Blenheim that Captain Findlay had left at 2.30. A communication that “the ’plane was passing over Pa tea,” telegraphed at 2.15, caused considerable excitement, but proved to be incorrect.
