LATE EDITION
# MR. COSGRAVE’S POLICY. IN FORCING ELECTION. FUNDS OF THE PARTIES. BY CABLE—PBESB ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 12.50 p.in. to-day. LONDON, Aug. 26. The “Daily Mail’s” Dublin correspondent says: “It is generally felt that Mr. Cosgrave has acted wisely. The unusual tactics, were fully justified by the extraordinary situation which the Dc Yaleraite’s entry into the Dail produced. Cabinet took legal advice and decided to disperse the Dail by a resolution authorising the dissolution because it is unlikely that the majority would agree when the Do Valeraites, Labourites and National Leaguers supported by the Farmers’ and Independents would be forced to bear their owu expenses. Mr Cosgrave, in event of a defeat, will bo forced to resign, enabling Mr. Do Valera to dominate a Labour-Nationalist coalition. Mr Cosgrove acted constitutionally, but cleverly won a substantial victory, as while the Government party is not overburdened with funds, it is far better off than the other parties which are virtually penniless —“Sydney Sim” cable.
