USING OLD BLANKETS.

Sooner or later, no matter how careful the washing, there comes a time when old ' blankets become yellow or discoloured, and show signs of wearing thin. When past their usefulness as bedding there are still several ways in which these veterans can be used. If there are children, dye the blankets a soft lavender or pink, and the most charming dressing gowns can be contrived. Should 1 the old blanket have stripes round the border, these will make a trimming. Gut tne little sac gown with the stripes running round the foot, and arrange the material so that the stripes may appear on the collar and cuffs. Finish off with a thick cord girdle at the waist. Dyed bright orange emerald or crimson, scraps of old blanket make cosy jackets for hot-water bottles. Take the scissors and two pieces of blanket, and cut as though' about to make a tea cosy, bind and seam together, leaving an opening along the top big enough for the handle to come through.
