ANGLO-GERMAN COMBINE SUGGESTED. ,i\ CABLE— ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT LONDON, Aug. 25. It is istated that Sir Alfred Mono is* at present visiting Germany in connection with negotiations between the Imperial Conference Industries and the German Fan-ben. Industries or dye trust, whose capital is over one thousand million marks. It is believed that the draft agreement drawn up onh awaits final revision. The German combination since tin wan- has given attention to the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen, the bonification of coal, the manufacture of cheap hydrogen and artificial silk, and the woolanisation of cotton, and is now contemplating the formation of < European chemical trust. The “Morning Post’’ editorially expresses anxiety. It says: “It has been .••lid the agreement may tend to give Germany a preference which might conceivably leave Britain in a position of inferiority in wartime. No doubt due thought has been given to th-if aspect by the British combine, but i* seems a matter of public policy.
