A DRAWN GAME. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH. Aug. 20. Tn a representative hockey match today, Canterbury drew with Buller, 3 goals all. The game was played in steady rain and on a ground quite unfit for hockey. WELLINGTON TEAM'S CHOSEN. i WELLINGTON, Aug. 21. Air. H. Hatch, sole selector, announces that the following is the senior Wellington men's -hockey team to play against the Taranaki representatives: C. Moore (goal), K. Perrin (light back), P. Spiers (left back), McArthur (right half), E. McDoed (centre half), Chantrell (left half); forwards, Roberts (right wing), Sykes (inside right), Freethey (centre forward). Frazer (left wing), ami Brown (inside left); emergencies, O 'Callaghan back), dobin (half), Erwin (forward). The selectors (Messrs. Grill in. Scot t, and Whyte) announce' the following players for the ladies’ senior represenative team to represent Wellington at the New Zealand hockey tournament at Palmerston North, commencing on August 31: L. ,SIJTTQN OTP. SKiVEIN-A-SIDE TOURNEY. A seven-aHsicle 'hockey tourney for the Sutton Cup will be ihelld at- King Edward Park on Wednesday next, commending at 2 o’clock. The tourney is open to Hawera and neighbouring Wednesday teams only, the entrants being Otakeho, Alanaia, Hawcia A, and Hawera J 3. The ■fixtures are : .Hawera A v. Otaketho. Hawera B v. Alanaia. Hawera A v. Alanaia. Hawera. Jl v. Otakeho. .Hiawera A v. Hawera 11. OtaikeJio v. Alanaiia.. Any team securing six points will win the cup outright. N.Z. TOURING TEAAI. QUEENSLAND DEFEATED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. BRISBANE, Aug. 21. The hockev carnival began to-day, when New Zealand played Queensland, winning by nine goals to one. The local team was completely outclassed, hut fought stubbornly against the superior combination. The New Zealanders’ play was fast, accurate, and scientific. In the first half of the game the Queenslanders held them hi check to some extent, and the . halftime score was two goals to nil in favour of the visitors. From the first whistle, however, the New Zealanders took the lead, combe scoring a great goal, winding off mi excellent centre movement. Even plav followed until Watts scored brilliantly from a back-hand stroke. The second half started with New Zealand having easi.lv the better of the play. Towards the end of the match the visitors took complete command, opening a rapid bombardment on the Queensland goal. Before' the l whistle sounded Watts lvad .scored two more goals. Seocombe another. Be.ll two, and Spiers and Lusty one each. The solo scorer for Queensland was Rest, who completed a fine forward movement with a goal.
