VERGE OF BANKRUPTCY. EFFECT OF J{ED CONTROL. SHANGHAI, Aug. 10. When the British concession at Hankow was handed over to Chinese control it was anticipated that muddle would follow. These predictions have been fulfilled, and to-day the former orderly and soundly run concession is bankrupt, and at the mercy of men unversed in keeping expenses anywhere within income. The former concession is already on the verge of bankruptcy as the result of six months of tlie new administration. Tlie Chinesc-British Council has notified the Hankow Government that it has suspended the receipt of taxes and Nationalist Government notes, and is demanding a. regularisation order for payment in silver, failing which bankruptcy is inevitable,
