CO-OPERATIVE DAIRYING.
HURLEYVILLE COMPANY. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. The thirty-fourth annual general meeting or shareholders oi tlie Hurley-vi-lie Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltrl., was herd, on Saturday, AH J. Huxley presi amg over an attendance of twelve. Tlie report stated tiiat for balancesheet purposes the dicese had been taken in stock at the -advances received, from tlie Dairy Produce Board. The directors recommended a dividend of G per cent, interest be paid on fully paid up shares. Air Kodiey had been re-engaged as manager. Shareholders were requested to elect three direc-to-rs, two in place of Aiessrs J. Hiuirley and 0. Schultz, who retired by rotation and were eligible for re-election, and one in place of Air J. Burkhart, who had resigned. The table of statistics wa.s as follows: Alilk, 4,20G,0G9; fat, 105,906.1; cheese, 437.514; eneese to fat, 2.637; average test, 3.94; milk to cheese, 9.G1; average per cow, 231.39; cost of manufacture to f.0.b., 3.52. la moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, -the chairman said that the- -season under review had. been the- worst from a financial point of view for the last 15 or 1G years, though production had increased despite the fact that a number of former -supp-lieriS had discontinued dairying ,And taken to -sheep. The pay-out over the season, had amounted to Is lid 01L the 6£d advance made by the Dairy Board None of tlie company’s produce had received tlie superfine grading, though only 4 per cent, of the output'had been graded second. The motion was seconded by Air 14. Busing, and was adopted without discussion. llepiving to a subsequent question; the chairman stated that offers of 8-fd up to- tlie end of November and 81 d up to the end of December had been received, but when the directors made a step to close they were informed that the offers were off. It was probable. however, that 8-Jd would be received tip to the end of November. Answering another query, tlie secretary stated that the total payout over the season would lie approximately Is 3 id. , A question raised bv Air G. Hurley elicited the information that a supplier who had purchased 12 tons of manure had, in error, been charged for six only. After a protracted discussion, it was decided, on the motion of Mr G. Hurley, seconded bv Air D;. Hurley senior, to recommend the incoming directors to examine; the vouchers arid have the entrv rectified. Messrs J- Hurley. O. Schultz and J. Burkhart were re-elected unopposed to the directorate. The chairman’s honorarium and directors’ fees were fixed on the same scale a® previously. 'Air J. D. G. Thomson was re-ap,point-ed auditor. On the motion of Air D. Hurley, senior, the meeting concluded with a vote of thanks heiire accorded the directors, manager and staff.
