TRANS-PACIFIC FLIGHT.
SUBSIDY FOR PURCHASE OF MACHINE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. Received 12.25 p.m. to-day. SYDNEY, Aug. 19. The Hon. J. T. Lang, Premier of New South Wales, has increased, the Government grant to Captain Kingsford Smith and Lieut. Anderson, .who are now in San Francisco awaiting their flight to Australia, from £3500 to £4500, so that a Fokker ’plane owned by Captain Wilkins can he purchased. The Vacuum Oil Company has cabled to America that the Fokker he purchased for £5500 provided it was fitted to undertake the strenuous transpacific flight.
