MAX A WAIT REPS. ENTERTAINED GATHERING AT HAWERA. Approximately 50 supporters of the Association football code were in attendance at the Foresters’ Hall, Hawera, on Saturday evening, when the visiting Manawatu team was entertained. at a. smoke concert and social. An appropriate list of toasts, interspersed with appreciated items of song and story contributed by local and visiting artists, were combined in an enjoyable programme. Mr W. Adams, the popular president of the Taranaki Football Association, occupied the chair, and following the loyal toast, proposed the health of the Manawatu team. Mr Adams suitably congratulated the visitors on their fine performance during the afternoon and expressed the pleasure it afforded the Taranaki adherents of the game <in receiving such a fine body of sportsmen. The response wa.s made by Mr J. C. Young, president of the Manawatu Association, who expressed the hope that his association would have the pleasure next .season of returning the hospitality extended to its representatives during the visit to Taranaki. Other toasts included: “The Taranaki Football Association” (Mr. Crouch of Manawatu —Mr F. G. Peters, secretary of the Taranaki Association) ; ‘•Referees” (Mr D. McCormick, president of the Hawera Club—Mr Crouch); “The Taranaki Selector” (Air W. Ram,Sav 'Mr C. J. Cummings) ; ‘ The Teams”: “Kindred Sports” ; "“The Round Ball Game” ; “The Ladies” and “The Press.”
