At the sale at Wanganui on Wedneesday the quality was only fair and there were no fat classes. The lines, however, met with good competition at last week’s rates. Quotations were as under: Failing mouth ewes (to Southdown ranis), 22s to 22s 6d; low mouth, low conditioned ewes (to Romney rams), 21s; 2 and 4-tooth forward wethers, 28s; ewe hoggets, 245; 12 ewes, 16s. SALE AT BURNSIDE. DUNEDIN, Aug. 10. Prime islieep went up in price at Burnside to-day and fat cattle prices were firm. Pigs also showed an improvement. Fat Sheep. —Prime sheep went up fully 3s a head, but showed a slight easing tendency towards the end of the sale. Fat hoggets sold at about last week’s prices, making 28s to 33s ; the medium Drought 23s 9d to. 265, extra heavy wethers 7d per pound, prime wethers 7icl, prime heavy ewes old, light ewes 6-Jd. lambs 9d.

Prices were in consequence firmer Extra choice ox made 31s per IOOIb, choice and prime 28s to 30s, just kiliable 25s to 275. prime young <-ow and heifer beef 25s to 275, just kihable 22s to 21s. Sheep. Heavy prime made £J. l&s (kl, medium £1 15s to £1 17s, light and unfinished £1 8s 6d to £1 12s, heavy prime ewes 31s, lighter 28s Gd to 30s, other ewes 23s to 255.
