UNDERWRITERS RAISE HAWERA’S STATUS.

The culmination of representations made over a considerable period by the Hawera Chamber of Commerce was recorded at the monthly meeting last evening, when a report, was rendered bv Mr. F. W. Horner together with a concluding letter from Mr H. Fletcher, general secretary of the council of the Fire and Accident Underwriters Association. advising that it had been decided to reduce the classification of Hawera from “D” . to- “C” tariff as from October 1, 1927. The letter stated further that the reduction was being granted by the association in the hope that tihe suggested scheme for duplicating the, 10-inch main would be given effect to at the eabest opportunity.
