At the Stamford Bridge athletic meetings England beat France by nine events to four, and by 66 point® to 4-5. The Olympic runner. Ixnve, cleverly won the'Boo metres by a foot from the French champion, Martin, in Imm 54 1-oeee. The West Indian/Jack London, from the Polytechnic, won the 100 metres in 10 7-iOsec. Mourlon (France), when leading at the three-quarter distance, spurted and collapsed. He was removed on a .stretcher. Lord Bivrghlev was beaten for .second place in the 110 metres hurdles. The winner was Gaby, in 14 9-10 sec. The Olympic runner, Butler, won the 200 metres in 21 9-10 sec, and. the Cambridge representative, Rinkel, won the 400 metres by four feet from the Parisian champion, Feger, in 50 l-3see. France won the high jump (6ft Tin), I the long jump (23ft 22-in), and also | the weight putting and the 5000 metres.
